BENCHH 2024 Conference Kicks Off in Accra, Ghana

The inaugural Built Environment National Conference on Housing and Hydrology (BENCHH 2024) commenced on July 2 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, gathering experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to tackle Ghana’s pressing built environment challenges.

Under the theme “Enhancing Collaboration to Tackle Ghana’s Housing and Hydrology Challenges,” the three-day event aims to foster collaboration and innovation among industry experts, policymakers, researchers, financiers, and key stakeholders.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, emphasized the need for joint efforts to address issues such as flooding, water resource management, affordable housing, and infrastructure resilience. “By working together, we can develop innovative and sustainable solutions to the hydrology and housing challenges that impact our nation,” he said.

Throughout the conference, attendees will engage in dynamic discussions and workshops designed to pinpoint practical solutions. Dr. Armah expressed confidence in the potential outcomes, stating, “Our focus will be on addressing issues such as flooding, water resource management, affordable housing, and infrastructure resilience.”

The Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of sustainable and resilient development, emphasizing that “we are committed to promoting practices that not only meet current needs but also ensure the well-being of future generations.”

The conference sessions will showcase best practices, innovative technologies, and policy recommendations aimed at driving sustainable development forward. Dr. Armah also stressed the significance of the conference’s outcomes in shaping future policies, noting that “the outcomes of our deliberations will be crucial in shaping policies that govern the built environment sector.”
