Tragic Collision in Kano Claims 25 Lives, Leaves 53 Injured

The Kano Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported a devastating accident resulting in the death of 25 individuals and injuries to 53 others. The incident occurred early morning at the Dangwaro International Market within Kano City.
According to FRSC officials, the casualties were passengers loaded onto a trailer transporting cows from Maiduguri to Southern Nigeria. The trailer collided with another vehicle and overturned, leading to this tragic outcome.
Sector Commander Ibrahim Abdullahi confirmed the details, stating that the accident involved a trailer with registration number XA 311 ZB, and attributed the cause to excessive speed, reckless driving, and overloading.
Promptly responding to the scene upon receiving the distress call at 03:15 am on July 1, 2024, FRSC personnel rescued victims and recovered several items including motorcycles, mobile phones, livestock, maize, and cash amounting to N400,000, which are now in police custody.
“All the victims were immediately conveyed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital Kano for urgent medical attention,” Abdullahi stated, sadly confirming the loss of 25 lives among those affected.
He emphasized the dangers of unsafe transportation practices involving animals, goods, and passengers, urging motorists to prioritize safety on the roads.
