- Trial to proceed at High Court for soldier's murder
The TDC Magistrate Court in Tema has committed Samuel Tetteh and Abubakar Sadick to stand trial at the High Court for the murder of 21-year-old Private Sherif Imoro at Ashaiman.
Magistrate Mrs. Benedicta Antwi discharged the other three accused persons, Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, Safianu Musah, and Yusif Mohammed, following a fresh charge sheet filed by the prosecution in April 2023.
According to the prosecution, Tetteh and Sadick attacked the deceased on March 4, 2023, at Taifa Ashaiman, stabbing him in the arm and fleeing with his phone. The two allegedly sold the stolen phone to Rakib, who resold it to others.
Counsel for Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, Mr. Abdul Fatau Abdallah, explained that his client and the others were only involved in dishonestly receiving the stolen phone.
However, Rakib and Musah were rearrested and placed in police custody, while Mohammed was released due to his minimal connection to the crime.
The case will now proceed to the High Court for trial.
