The Nigerian Army’s counter-terrorism forces successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Sokoto State on Thursday evening, neutralizing five terrorists and rescuing two hostages in a daring gun battle.
According to a statement released by the Army, troops responded to a distress call from the Baniguntu and Gohonau forest area in Gudu Local Government Area and engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists and the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, 32 rounds of ammunition, and a Tecno phone.
The rescued hostages, Nura Isya and Saluhu Hamza, were safely handed over to the Chairman of Gudu Local Government Area for medical care and reunification with their families.
