Liverpool great Alan Hansen has been released from hospital and will continue his recovery at home, his former club announced.
Hansen, 69, had been hospitalized since June 9, when Liverpool confirmed he was “seriously ill”.
A family statement on the club website expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and respect for their privacy.
Hansen played for Liverpool from 1977 to 1991, winning numerous titles and earning 26 caps for Scotland.
After retiring, he became a pundit on BBC’s Match of the Day from 1992 to 2014.
Former colleagues Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer wished him well, with Lineker tweeting “The best news ever
