Mess with Anything But Not My Trees- Asantehene

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has served notice to persons who go anywhere near trees he has either personally planted or sanctioned to be wary as his trees are nothing to mess with.

According to him, trees hold massive significance to him and thereby his resolve to plant and see to their growth to the benefit of the environment.

Otumfuo affirms that getting in-depth knowledge and sensitization about the significance of trees would enable Ghanaians to better appreciate them and also give them the needed protection.

Recounting an incident which involved the tampering of one of his trees behind his residence, the King said no one goes scot-free for messing with his trees

“My participation in the Green Ghana Day is not for the cameras. I have some trees I have planted right behind this residence. I went to find one tampered with by some constructors working around and you should have seen what happened. Mess with anything but not my trees.”

His Majesty said this when the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, during a courtesy call on June 19, 2024, thanked him for his commitment and support towards the annual Green Ghana Day Initiative of the government.
