Afua Asantewaa Eyes Another Guiness World Record
- Afua Asantewaa considers another attempt at Guinness World Record successfully.
- She draws inspiration from others' determination and perseverance too.
- Her previous attempt fell short of the world record by hours.
- Afua remains determined to try harder and succeed next time.
Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, the Ghanaian singer who attempted the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, has not given up on her dream. Despite her previous attempt being unsuccessful, she is considering another attempt at the record.
Afua Asantewaa likened her record attempt to Presidential aspirants who lose an election but continue to campaign and prepare for the next election. She believes that just like the Black Stars football team doesn’t quit playing football after losing a match, she won’t quit either.
In an interview with GhOne TV, Afua Asantewaa said she has learned a lot from her previous attempt and is willing to prepare and try again. She has two weeks to attempt the record again, and she is confident that she can succeed with proper preparation.
Afua Asantewaa completed her singing marathon at 126 hours and 52 minutes on December 29, 2023, aiming to break the current record held by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian who sang for 105 hours in 2012. However, her attempt was unsuccessful, as announced by the Guinness World Records (GWR) on February 22, 2024.
The GWR tweeted that Afua Asantewaa’s record attempt was not successful, but they hope she will make another attempt soon. They also refunded her earlier payment, as the evidence check had begun before she requested priority service.
Afua Asantewaa accepted the outcome of her record attempt and requested more details from GWR. She appreciated the feedback, commendations, and criticisms from the public and expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their support throughout her Sing-a-thon journey.
Afua Asantewaa’s determination and perseverance have inspired many, and her willingness to try again is a testament to her passion for singing and her desire to make Ghana proud.
The GWR’s announcement may have been disappointing, but Afua Asantewaa’s spirit remains unbroken. She is a true embodiment of the Ghanaian spirit, and her courage and resilience are an inspiration to all.
As Afua Asantewaa considers another attempt at the record, Ghanaians will undoubtedly support her once again. Her Sing-a-thon journey has shown that with hard work, determination, and a never-give-up attitude, anything is possible.
Afua Asantewaa’s story serves as a reminder that setbacks are a part of life, but it’s how we respond to them that matters. She has chosen to rise above her disappointment and try again, and that takes courage and strength.
