A devastating rainstorm has destroyed property worth millions of cedis in Adokwanta, Krachi East Municipality, Oti Region. The 40-minute storm, characterized by strong winds, left a trail of destruction in its wake, rendering many homeless.

The Volta River Authority (VRA) resettlement quarters and temporary structures in the area had their roofs ripped off, leaving residents stranded. “Many people have lost their homes and are counting their losses,” said Nana Agyemang Kwame Obortuo, sub-chief of the area, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The GNA reports that displaced persons are seeking shelter with relatives, and victims have been left homeless with their families. Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Charles Gyamfi Boateng stated that his office has not received official news of the devastation but will conduct a thorough assessment of the situation.

The storm’s destruction has left the community in ruins, with many struggling to come to terms with their losses. The full extent of the damage is yet to be determined, but it is clear that the storm has had a devastating impact on the lives of those in Adokwanta.
