The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging organizations dedicated to ensuring peaceful elections to step forward and condemn the recent outbreaks of violence witnessed at various polling centers nationwide.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC’s national chairman, has highlighted a concerning surge in clashes at these centers and insists that immediate action is necessary to quell these incidents.
This plea comes in the wake of a skirmish at the Electoral Commission’s office in Ofaakor, near Kasoa in the Central region, resulting in the stabbing of Ato Koomson, son of Awutu Senya East MP Mavis Hawa Koomson.
Addressing attendees at the NDC’s 32nd anniversary, Mr. Nketia emphasized the crucial role of peace-promoting groups in condemning violence at electoral centers.
“As I address you today, there is a heightened presence of security personnel in Nsoko. I share these incidents to urge those advocating for peace matches and signing documents for peaceful elections to speak out now if they truly desire peaceful elections.”
