Doctors in the Ashanti Region are growing increasingly frustrated with the prolonged construction of vital healthcare facilities, citing the added pressure on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital due to these delays.
The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) emphasizes the urgent need for completion of the 500-bed Afari Military Hospital and the 250-bed Sewua Hospital to alleviate congestion at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Critics point fingers at the government’s prioritization of Agenda 111 hospitals, arguing that this approach neglects the immediate requirements of existing healthcare infrastructure.
During discussions with Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, the GMA suggests diverting resources from Agenda 111 projects to enhance Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s capabilities.
