- The project will build the capacity of government agencies
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is launching a new initiative in Ghana to fight corruption.
The Ghana Performance Accountability Activity (PAA) will support civil society organizations (CSOs) and citizen groups to hold local governments accountable for service delivery.
How PAA Works:
- PAA will train CSOs and citizen groups to identify and address corruption-related issues within local service providers and governments (Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies – MMDAs).
- A regional workshop was held to introduce PAA to key stakeholders, including government officials, CSOs, community organizations, and influential leaders.
- The project will build the capacity of government agencies, district assemblies, CSOs, and community organizations to improve service delivery and responsiveness to citizen needs.
Benefits of PAA:
- Improved quality of local public services
- Increased government accountability to citizens
- More responsive service providers who are better equipped to meet citizen needs
Project Implementation:
- PAA is a five-year project implemented by Democracy International.
- The project collaborates with the Ghanaian government and local CSOs, including the Rural Aid Alliance Foundation (RAAF) which will lead implementation efforts in the Western Region.
