In a shocking incident in Kaduna, Habiba Ibrahim, a newlywed woman, reportedly severed the manhood of her 40-year-old husband, Salisu Idris.
The motive behind her action remains unclear, as no reason was provided for her drastic act.
However, Ibrahim was apprehended by the police in the Zaria area of Kaduna State following the incident, which occurred on May 26th, shortly after her husband returned from the mosque where he had performed morning prayers.
Idris, who works as a commercial motorcycle rider, recounted the harrowing experience, explaining that while he was resting in bed, his wife abruptly attacked him with a sharp knife, nearly severing his manhood. Thanks to the timely intervention of a neighbor, Ibrahim’s attempt was thwarted, preventing further harm.
Idris expressed shock over his wife’s sudden aggression, noting that there had been no prior altercation between them.
Following the attack, Idris was promptly transported to General Hospital, Makarfi, and later transferred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, for medical treatment. Despite the severity of his injuries, his primary concern remains his recovery, stating that thoughts of remarriage are currently far from his mind.
Idris’ mother, Rabi Salisu, who has been attending to him during his hospitalization, revealed that her son had never raised any concerns about his relationship with his wife prior to the incident. She also mentioned that Ibrahim’s parents are distressed by the situation and have offered to cover Idris’ medical expenses.
Attempts to reach the Kaduna State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone indicated that he was unreachable at the time.
