Man Charged with Brutal Attack On Pregnant Wife

A 42-year-old man, Ibrahim Anas, has been remanded in custody by a Magistrate Court in Dambai, Ghana.
He faces charges of assaulting his pregnant wife with a cutlass.
The Incident
On May 28th, 2024, authorities received a report of a woman screaming for help in a remote area near Banda. Police arrived at the scene to find the victim, Anas’ wife, lying in a pool of blood with injuries to her stomach, forehead, mouth, shoulder, and hands.
Medical Attention and Investigation
The victim was rushed to the Banda Health Centre and later transferred to Kpandai Polyclinic for further treatment. Meanwhile, police apprehended Anas and took his statement.
Court Hearing and Next Steps
During the court hearing, presided over by Mr Drammani Alhassan, Detective Chief Inspector S.K. Gavor presented the case for the prosecution. Anas was remanded in prison custody and will reappear before the court on June 14th, 2024.
Alleged Motive
According to the prosecution, Anas admitted to the attack but claimed he was influenced by “satan and his fallen angels.” The court will likely assess his mental state alongside the evidence presented.
