Media outlets in Ghana have been urged to promote violence-free elections in the upcoming 2024 general elections to ensure peace and stability in the country.
Mr. Daniel Nkrumah, General Manager of Sunsum FM, made this call at an intercession prayer session organized by the radio station in collaboration with pastors and religious leaders.
Nkrumah emphasized the importance of responsible citizenship and the role of the media in promoting peace and fairness during the election period.
He encouraged the media to preach peace, coexistence, and fair play among Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliations.
Bishop Osei Kusi of Shiloh United Church, representing the pastors, appealed to religious leaders and traditional authorities to prioritize justice and peace in their teachings.
He stressed that peace is essential for socioeconomic development and urged stakeholders to promote level playgrounds for all political parties, avoiding bias and embracing peaceful coexistence.
The event aimed to promote peace and unity among Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 elections, recognizing the critical role of media and religious leaders in shaping public discourse.
