Yingor Football Club has issued a statement demanding transparency from the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) regarding the final league standings of the 2023/2024 Volta Regional Division Two League.

The club alleges discrepancies in the points tally and raises concerns over the VRFA’s handling of protest petitions. According to the statement, the VRFA released final league standings on May 29, 2024, which declared teams qualifying for the sub-middle league.

However, Yingor FC claims that the standings were inconsistent with on-field results, affecting their final position in the Southern Sector B Zone A. The club argues that despite having no protest petitions against them, the award of protest points to other teams altered their rightful second-place finish to third.

Yingor FC criticized the VRFA for not publishing protest petitions and disciplinary committee rulings, which they say were standard practices in previous seasons. This lack of transparency has made it impossible for clubs to verify the accuracy of the league standings, raising serious questions about the integrity of the competition.

In response, the club has officially requested the VRFA to publish within three days the full list of protest petitions, proof of service, responses from respondent clubs, disciplinary committee records, rulings, the number of protest points awarded or deducted, and any pending petitions.

The club’s statement emphasizes the need for transparency and accountability in the VRFA’s handling of the league standings. Yingor FC’s demand for transparency has sparked a debate about the importance of fair play and accurate record-keeping in football competitions.
