Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, has declared that special voting for the upcoming 2024 General Election is scheduled for December 2.
She emphasized that this special voting will take place across all 275 constituencies in Ghana, preceding the main election on December 7.
Speaking during a meeting with the national executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and representatives of the security forces in Accra, Jean Mensa confirmed the date as Tuesday, May 28.
Special Voting, she explained, is designed for eligible voters who cannot cast their ballots at their registered polling stations on the day of the general election.
The special voting initiative encompasses various groups, including personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Information Services Department.
Additionally, eligible participants include members of the National Ambulance Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Prisons Service, the Ghana Journalists Association, the Ghana Police Service, and the National Media Commission.
Assuring the public, Jean Mensa affirmed that the Electoral Commission is committed to addressing any challenges before the 2024 General Election to ensure a seamless process from voting to the collation and announcement of results.
