Reggae Star Ras Kuuku Claims He Made ‘VGMA’ Popular

Reggae musician Ras Kuuku asserted that his 2020 tour of the ghettos with his plaque significantly boosted the popularity of the Ghana Music Awards scheme. According to Ras Kuuku, there is no question that he is among the Ghana Music Awards’ preferred artists.

“When I received the VGMA award, I made the scheme look so popular and bright. I am the only artist who has made the scheme more popular than any artist has,” Ras Kuuku stated confidently. “VGMA has their favorite, and this is true because Kojo Kurankye might be their favorite, but in all, there is no doubt Ras Kuuku is one of the best in Ghana.”

Ras Kuuku also explained the reasoning behind his decision to tour the ghettos with the plaque, emphasizing that it is an integral part of Ghana. “I went parading around town with the award because those people made me who I am now. They haven’t seen the award before, so I needed them to see what it looked like, and I left the plaque in the ghetto because that place is also part of Ghana,” he added.

Additionally, Ras Kuuku refuted claims that he had misplaced his award. “I did not lose it, and neither did I misplace it. It is in my house. The award delivered through the dispatch was not mine, but that of one artist who didn’t have ‘sense’,” he clarified.
