Kwabena Boateng was sworn in as the new Member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency today, Friday, May 17, in a ceremony at Parliament.
The oath-taking ceremony, presided over by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, marked the formal induction of Mr. Boateng into office. This followed a by-election held on April 30, which he won with a commanding lead.
Mr. Boateng’s induction follows a by-election held on April 30, which he won with a commanding lead, securing 27,782 votes (55.79% of total ballots cast). His closest rival, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate, garnered 21,536 votes (43.24% of the vote share).
The by-election saw a 49.1% turnout, with other candidates receiving varying levels of support. Esther Osei (CPP) received 89 votes (0.2%), Beatrice Boakye (LPG) secured 149 votes (0.3%), Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (independent) amassed 222 votes (0.4%), and Attakorah Joseph (independent) received 23 votes (0.05%).
