Barcelona Ponders Sacking Xavi Hernandez Amidst Financial Woes

Barcelona is contemplating the dismissal of head coach Xavi, despite his initial announcement in January to step down at the end of the season.
Club president Joan Laporta had persuaded Xavi to stay on, but recent comments made by the coach have seemingly angered the club’s board, leading to a reconsideration of his position.
Xavi’s remarks about the difficulty of competing financially with rival Real Madrid and other top European teams appear to have sparked the decision.
In a recent news conference, Xavi stated, ‘Barca fans need to understand that the situation is really difficult, especially economically, to compete with Real Madrid in Spain and others in Europe.’
He emphasized the need for stability and time, but his words seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
Barcelona B team manager Rafael Marquez is currently the favorite to take over as manager.
Xavi, who took charge in November 2021, led Barca to the Spanish title in his first full season but has struggled this term, with the team 14 points behind Real Madrid in the league and exiting the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.”
