The Ghana Gas Company has commissioned nine mechanized boreholes in the Kpandai district, aimed at solving the community’s water problems. The colorful commissioning ceremony took place on the campus of the College of Community Health Nursing in Nkanchina.
The College of Community Health Nursing is a renowned institution that trains highly skilled and professional nurses who are ready to fill gaps in the healthcare delivery system within Kpandai and the country at large.
The trainees at the college have long faced the burden of traveling distances to fetch water, but this challenge has now been alleviated with the provision of mechanized boreholes.
The various communities in Kpandai that will benefit from the mechanized boreholes include Nkanchina Nursing College, Mbowura, Kabeso, Kachinke, Kakpeni, Jamboai, Jirandogo, Loloto, and Lonto.
The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Nyamah, who will be seeking the people’s mandate in the 2024 elections, commended the gas company for providing water to nine communities in the Kpandai district.
Richard Nyamah advised the College of Community Health Nursing students to take advantage of the newly commissioned mechanized boreholes and focus on their studies, rather than traveling to town to fetch water from the Oti River.
“I want to appeal to you all after we’re done commissioning, take responsibility for it and make sure that you maintain it so that those after you will also take good care of it,” he said.
The Principal of the College of Community Health Nursing, Abdul Karim A. Hussein, appealed to corporate bodies to come to their aid since the school only runs one certificate programme. He added that they have clearance to start a new diploma programme.
At the Mbowura community, the people could not stop but praise Ghana Gas and Richard Nyamah for honoring their promise to the various communities in the Kpandai district.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Overlord of Nkanchina, Nana Okumankwi I, queenmothers, traditional leaders, party members, MCEs, and the townsfolk, who all gathered to witness the historic commissioning of the mechanized boreholes.
