Gaza death toll surpasses 34,900 amidst ongoing Israeli assault
- 34,904 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip
- 78,514 other people have been injured in the onslaught
- Israel faces allegations of genocide
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the death toll in Israel’s relentless attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to at least 34,904 since October 7th.
Additionally, 78,514 individuals have been reported injured during this period. The latest report indicates that within the past 24 hours, 60 people lost their lives and 110 sustained injuries due to Israeli strikes. Rescue efforts are hampered as many remain trapped under debris and on impassable roads.
The Israeli military intensified its offensive with an assault on the city of Rafah, where a significant portion of Gaza’s displaced population sought refuge.
This escalation follows a Hamas attack in October 2023, which claimed nearly 1,200 lives. As a result of the ongoing conflict, large areas of Gaza lie in ruins, leading to internal displacement affecting 85% of the enclave’s population.
The situation is compounded by a severe blockade, depriving civilians of essential resources such as food, water, and medicine, as highlighted by the UN.
Meanwhile, Israel faces allegations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. In January, an interim ruling deemed it “plausible” that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, directing Tel Aviv to cease such actions and ensure the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in the region.
