Borussia Dortmund may have had a rough season in their national league, but they’re on the verge of European glory.

Edin Terzic’s team put on a masterclass display, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.

This clinches a convincing 2-0 aggregate victory for the German side.

Currently sitting fifth in the Bundesliga, Dortmund will face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the final, which will be held at Wembley Stadium on June 1st.

Mats Hummels, the defender who scored the only goal in Paris, has unshakeable faith in his team’s ability to lift the trophy for the first time since 1997.

“We’ve believed in ourselves since the second group stage game,” Hummels declared. “There’s no reason we can’t win at Wembley. We managed to control the pace of the game and silence the crowd – that was the key to our success.”

“I haven’t scored many Champions League goals in my career, only five,” Hummels admitted. “This would be a great time to add another.”

This upcoming final will be a bittersweet moment for Hummels, who was part of the Dortmund team that lost to Bayern Munich in the 2013 Champions League final, also held at Wembley.

Dortmund’s defense, led by Hummels, was impenetrable. Despite hitting the woodwork a staggering six times across both legs, French giants PSG were unable to break through.

“We had to fight hard, but nobody will care about how we won tomorrow,” said Marco Reus, a Dortmund forward who might be playing his last game for the club after 12 years. “Those shots off the post won’t matter. What matters is that Borussia Dortmund is back in the final. Nobody saw this coming, it’s unbelievable!”
