Tragedy struck Thursday evening in Accra, Ghana, as two off-duty police officers were fatally shot in East Trasacco. The Ghana Police Service launched a manhunt for the perpetrators shortly after the incident.

Authorities revealed the shooting occurred around 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 2nd. The announcement came via the official Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service.

“The Ghana Police Service is actively pursuing two gunmen who, without provocation, shot and killed two off-duty police officers,” the statement declared. The officers were reportedly outside their private residence at Block Factory in East Trasacco at the time of the attack.

Adding another layer of mystery, police reports indicate the assailants did not steal anything from the victims. They instead fled the scene on a motorcycle after the shooting.

Determined to apprehend the culprits, police have initiated “a targeted operation, guided by intelligence,” according to their official statement.

This shocking incident comes on the heels of another tragedy involving a military officer. Just days prior, Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Danso Michael was killed in Kasoa Millennium City, Central Region, reportedly during a land dispute.

In a positive development related to the Kasoa incident, law enforcement has apprehended a suspect. This individual is currently in police custody, reportedly cooperating with investigators.
