Akufo-Addo Prays for Clarity of Vision Among Leaders Who Overlook Govt’s Strides in Development

President Akufo-Addo has voiced his frustration towards those casting doubt on his administration’s progress in advancing the nation’s development since he took office. Speaking at the inauguration of the Anwomaso Kumasi 1 Thermal Power Plant, he called on Ghanaians to acknowledge the strides made under his leadership.

Expressing his hope for divine intervention, he stated, “I pray for God to illuminate the minds of our leaders who fail to recognize our developmental strides, so they may acknowledge and appreciate our efforts.”

Akufo-Addo disclosed that the construction of the thermal plant was entirely funded by the Volta River Authority (VRA). The transfer of the 10-unit power plants from the African and Middle Eastern Resouce Investment (AMERI) Company to the Ghanaian government was completed under a five-year “built, own, operate, and transfer” agreement.

The decision to relocate the thermal power plants to their current location in the Ashanti Region was part of the VRA’s strategy to address power supply challenges.

Highlighting the financial commitment of the VRA to the project, Akufo-Addo emphasized, “VRA provided full funding for the construction of this station, covering land acquisition, permits, environmental and social impact studies, civil and electrical mechanical works, and plant commissioning.”

Furthermore, Akufo-Addo praised the contributions of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), and the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) in realizing the project.
