The state, representing media figure Serwaa Amihere, has initiated legal action against Henry Amponsah, alias Henry Fitz, and two others for reportedly sharing an intimate video without consent, purportedly involving Serwaa Amihere, the prominent TV presenter. This incident has triggered widespread condemnation on social media platforms. Court documents obtained by ModernGhana News on April 8 detail various charges, including conspiracy to commit a crime, unauthorized dissemination of intimate content, and sexual coercion.
These charges are alleged violations of Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) and Section 67(2) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 Act 1038. The lawsuit asserts that the accused, Edem Saviour Ketti, Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, and Henry Amponsah (also known as Henry Fitz), collaborated to share a prohibited video recording of Serwaa Amihere without her consent on different social media platforms, contravening Section 67(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 Act 1038.
Additionally, the lawsuit accuses the defendants of attempting to extort Serwaa Amihere by demanding approximately GHS25,000 to refrain from disseminating the prohibited recording, a violation of Section 66(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 Act 1038.
Law enforcement authorities have made progress in the case by apprehending Edem Saviour Ketti at his hideout in Dzorwulu, Accra. During investigations, Ketti confessed to using his Ghana Card to register the MTN mobile money account allegedly employed to receive the ransom. Efforts are ongoing to arrest Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz.
