The Black Stars of Ghana faced a challenging encounter against Uganda in their second friendly match of the March international break, ultimately settling for a 2-2 draw in Marrakech on Tuesday afternoon.
The match showcased a competitive display from both sides, with Ghana taking the lead twice through goals from Jerome Opoku and Jordan Ayew.
Opoku, scoring his first goal for the Black Stars since his debut, broke the deadlock early in the game in the seventh minute after connecting with a corner kick delivered by Jordan Ayew.
However, Uganda’s Steven Mukwala who plies his trade with Kotoko in Ghana swiftly equalized, capitalizing on a penalty opportunity to level the score at 1-1.
Jordan Ayew, continuing his impressive form, restored Ghana’s lead with a well-taken penalty, marking his fourth goal in three consecutive national team appearances.
Despite efforts from both teams in the second half, including a close chance for Ghana’s Ernest Nuamah, the game ended in a deadlock.
Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, made five changes to the starting lineup from their previous match against Nigeria, introducing players like Ebenezer Annan, Denis Odoi, Abu Francis, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Jojo Wollacott.
However, the team’s inability to secure a victory during the March international break, following their earlier 2-1 loss to Nigeria, leaves room for reflection and adjustments as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
