Ghanaian football legend Laryea Kingston is stepping up to lead the Black Starlets, the national U-17 team. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed his appointment as the new head coach, effective immediately.
Kingston previously served as assistant coach under Abdul Karim Zito, head coach of Dreams FC. He now takes the reins himself, bringing his experience as a former Black Stars winger and Hearts of Oak player.
Supporting Kingston will be a strong coaching team. Ex-Hearts of Oak captain Jacob Nettey joins as assistant coach.
Nana Agyemang, who holds both CAF License A and UEFA License B qualifications, will also lend his expertise. Agyemang brings experience working with teams like Adenta United and the Lizzy Sports Complex Academy.
The Black Starlets are currently gearing up for important tournaments. They’ll be competing in the upcoming WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations held right here in Ghana.
Additionally, the team is slated to travel to Russia later this month to participate in a U-17 invitational tournament, further sharpening their skills before the WAFU championship.
