In an effort to guarantee free and fair elections for Ghanaians, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it is prepared for the upcoming polls in December.
Speaking to reporters in Accra on Wednesday, EC deputy commissioner Dr. Bossman Asare expressed confidence that the upcoming polls would rank among the best.
We are prepared for the election in every way…We are going to have another credible, transparent election that will rank among the greatest, he declared.
Additionally, Dr. Asare denied allegations made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the opposition party, that certain Biometric Verification Devices (BVD) are absent. He clarified that out of their possession, only five laptops had been taken.
On Tuesday, March 19, the Minority Caucus, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, expressed concerns regarding the stolen BVD machines and demanded that the Police Service and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) look into the situation as soon as possible.
Dr. Asare reassured the populace that the integrity of the 2024 elections would not be jeopardized by the theft of the laptops and urged them to maintain their composure. He stressed that there was no sensitive data on the laptops that were taken, just laptops.
“We can confirm that five laptops, which do not contain any personal information, have been stolen. We are prepared for the election in every way. They are risk-free because they do not contain any information.
