The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered a comprehensive assessment of all public health facilities in the Oti Region to enhance oversight and improve the quality of healthcare delivery.
He has tasked the Ministry’s Technical Advisor, Dr. Korku Awoonor, with constituting a technical working group to evaluate the structural soundness, operational capacity, and overall efficiency of health facilities in the region. The outcomes of the assessment will guide targeted interventions aimed at strengthening service delivery and ensuring patient safety.
The directive was announced at a two-day Ministry of Health retreat and is in line with the government’s broader objective of ensuring that public health facilities nationwide meet established safety, quality, and performance benchmarks.
Additionally, the Minister has directed Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) to supervise and implement cleaning services in all public hospitals across the country.
This initiative is intended to improve hygiene standards, reinforce infection prevention and control measures, and create safer, more patient-centered healthcare environments.
The Ministry noted that the facility audits and nationwide cleaning programme underscore its commitment to elevating sector standards through proactive oversight, improved facility management, and sustained investment in quality healthcare.
