Police Arrest Suspect in Obuasi Robbery That Killed Miner

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery that resulted in the death of a miner at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Rahman Adams, popularly known as Wale, was apprehended on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Pomposo following an intelligence-led operation.

The arrest is linked to a residential robbery that took place on December 12, 2025, during which armed attackers broke into a house at Asonkore. Responding officers discovered the body of a 42-year-old miner inside the residence.

Initial investigations suggest the suspects gained entry by cutting through a burglar-proof window. They allegedly made away with GH¢2,600 in cash, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key, and assaulted the victim during the robbery, leading to his death.

Police say another suspect, identified only as A.T., a Nigerian national believed to have played a major role in the robbery and killing, is currently at large.

Items recovered at the crime scene include hammers, machetes, and cutters.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The arrested suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations, while police continue efforts to track down and arrest the remaining accomplices.
