The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has announced the officially approved fees for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, a move intended to address concerns and enhance transparency regarding the university’s fee structure.

In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, and signed by the Director-General, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC confirmed that the Academic Facility User Fee will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year, meaning students will not face any increase in this charge.

The approved fees also include a Student Representative Council (SRC) due of GH₵50, an SRC Development Levy of GH₵150, a Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) Development Levy of GH₵250, and a Telecel Broadband Levy of GH₵122, which applies to all undergraduate students, including freshmen.

Additionally, GTEC introduced a one-time 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100, applicable only for the 2025/2026 academic year and not expected to continue thereafter. The Commission further emphasized the need to properly inform students of their rights, including the ability to opt out of certain levies where applicable.

GTEC described the announcement as part of efforts to promote accountability and ensure compliance within the university. “This directive is intended to address issues related to the 2025/2026 fee schedule of the University of Ghana. We count on the continued cooperation of all stakeholders for its effective implementation,” the statement concluded.
