The Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic stampede that occurred during a military screening exercise in Accra on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
In a statement shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Prof. Naana extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic stampede that occurred during yesterday’s military screening exercise. My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost their loved ones, and I wish the injured a swift and full recovery,” the Vice President wrote.
She also called on Ghanaians to support the affected families and stand together during this period of national mourning.
“At this time, I urge all of us to keep the affected families in our thoughts and prayers. As the relevant state agencies respond to the incident, let us stand together and support one another through this difficult moment,” she added.
The message follows the tragic event at El-Wak Sports Stadium, which resulted in the deaths of six young women and left several others injured during the ongoing Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.
