President John Mahama has visited victims receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital following the tragic stampede at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra during the ongoing Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.
The bodies of six individuals who lost their lives in the incident have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
The President was accompanied by Acting Minister for Defence Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Deputy Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and other senior government officials.
The stampede occurred on the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, before the scheduled screening commenced. Preliminary reports suggest that the large crowd of applicants breached security barriers and rushed through the gates around 6:20 a.m., leading to the tragic incident.
Those injured are currently receiving emergency medical care at the 37 Military Hospital.
The Ghana Armed Forces have extended their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery.
