The leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Ashanti Region has stepped up its engagement with key security agencies to strengthen collaboration on issues of public safety and shared interest.
Led by Regional Chairman Kofi Adu Domfeh, the delegation—comprising Vice-Chairman Nicholas Osei-Wusu and Secretary Beatrice Spio-Garbrah—paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto.
Mr. Domfeh reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to fostering a positive working relationship between the media and security institutions, emphasizing their common goal of promoting peace, safety, and accountability.
“The media will continue to work closely with the police to safeguard our communities while ensuring the public remains informed and engaged on security issues,” he stated.
The executives also visited the Ashanti Regional Prisons Command, where they met with the Regional Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle (Ing.), to discuss ongoing prison reforms and ways to enhance public awareness of correctional initiatives.
The GJA pledged its support for the ‘Think Prisons 360°’ initiative, describing it as a forward-thinking programme aimed at reshaping public perceptions of the country’s prison system and advancing humane rehabilitation standards.
According to the Ashanti GJA, these engagements are part of a broader effort to build strong institutional partnerships and promote responsible journalism in addressing the region’s social and security challenges.
