The Muslim community in Adansi has officially inaugurated Alhaji Alhassan Mubarik as their new Chief Imam, with a strong call for unity and peaceful coexistence among Muslims in the area.

The event, held in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, also included the induction of five deputy Imams who will assist the new Chief Imam in his duties.

Speaking to Adom News after the ceremony, Naa Mohammed Awal Abubakar III, the Adansi Dagomba Chief, affirmed that Alhaji Mubarik was the rightful successor, having previously served as the deputy to the late Chief Imam. He encouraged the new leadership to champion peace, understanding, and unity within the Muslim community.

“The Chief Imam must lead by example and embody unity for all. We are one people, and peace remains the bedrock of our development,”
Naa Awal emphasized.

In his acceptance remarks, Alhaji Alhassan Mubarik vowed to promote harmony among Muslims and strengthen relations with other religious groups.

He commended the community’s longstanding cordial relationship with churches and other faiths, pledging to maintain and enhance these partnerships.

“Our aim is to sustain and deepen the peace we already enjoy. Together, we can uphold unity and mutual respect among all residents,”
the new Chief Imam assured.
