Speaking in Accra on Friday, September 19, during a meeting with the new British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s potential as a strategic hub for manufacturing and processing under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He pointed out that AfCFTA offers duty-free and tariff-free access to markets across Africa, positioning Ghana as an ideal gateway for trade on the continent.

“We’re encouraging more UK companies to set up in Ghana. Many are already here, but there’s room for more to use Ghana as a launchpad into African markets,” Mahama said.

“With AfCFTA, we can now export across African countries without duties or tariffs. Ghana is working to establish itself as a central hub for manufacturing and processing into these markets.”

President Mahama’s remarks underline Ghana’s ambition to attract foreign investment and strengthen its role in continental trade.
