  • Prosecution delayed due to unavailability of the investigator
  • Samuel Seth Karikari (Koo Ofori) pleads not guilty to defrauding by false pretences

The Dansoman Circuit Court has postponed the ongoing fraud case involving popular actor Samuel Seth Karikari, widely known as Koo Ofori, to August 13, 2025.

The adjournment was granted following a request by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the lead prosecutor, who explained that disclosures could not be filed due to the absence of the case investigator.

Presiding Judge El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit accepted the request and rescheduled the matter for a Case Management Conference.

Karikari, known for his role in the television series Efiewura, has been charged with defrauding by false pretences. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently on bail set at GH¢320,000, with three sureties, all to be justified.

According to the prosecution, in 2021, the accused introduced Dr. Emy Oduro-Burton, a U.S.-based medical doctor, to a purported land deal. Karikari allegedly claimed a 70×100 ft plot of land at Spintex was available for $50,000 (GH¢309,000).

Dr. Oduro-Burton is said to have transferred the full amount to Karikari’s account. The actor then reportedly paid GH¢170,000 to Kwaku Danso, a witness in the case and the actual landowner.

However, upon visiting the site, the complainant discovered the land was only half a plot, worth GH¢170,000—far less than what was promised.

After multiple failed attempts to recover her money, she filed a complaint with the police. During the investigation, Karikari was arrested and reportedly admitted to the offence in his caution statement.
