Fire Razes Teachers’ Flats at Toase Senior High School
- Fire destroys 4 teachers' flats at Toase SHS
- Delayed fire response due to faulty truck
- Affected teachers left displaced
A devastating fire has destroyed four teachers’ flats at Toase Senior High School in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The fire, which broke out in the afternoon, raged for hours with no immediate intervention, despite multiple calls to the district’s fire station.
Residents of the area reported that they made several attempts to contact the fire station in Nkawie, but were informed that the fire truck had been out of service for more than a month and was awaiting repairs. The lack of an operational fire vehicle delayed the response, allowing the blaze to spread quickly and cause extensive damage.
The affected flats, which include four rooms and bathrooms, along with other amenities, were completely destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In the aftermath of the incident, the affected teachers have been left displaced, and the community is expressing growing frustration over the slow response from fire services. Many are questioning the readiness of local emergency services to respond to urgent situations.
