Chelsea has promoted two promising Ghanaian-born talents, Joshua Acheampong and Tyrique George, to their senior team.
Both players, who were born in England, have honed their skills within Chelsea’s renowned academy and have earned significant recognition for their potential and development over the years.
Acheampong and George made an impression during the club’s pre-season tour in the United States at the start of the 2024/25 season, and they have since been integrated into the first-team squad for ongoing training.
Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, expressed his admiration for the young players, officially welcoming them to the senior squad. He lauded their standout performances, urging them to continue working hard to secure their places in the team’s starting lineup.
This summer, George signed a long-term contract with the club, while Acheampong secured a deal that will see him stay at Stamford Bridge until 2029. Both signings solidify their futures with the club.
Despite representing England at various youth levels, the two players remain eligible to switch international allegiance to the Black Stars of Ghana should they choose to do so.
Both Acheampong and George also featured in Chelsea’s dominant 5-1 win over Shamrock Rovers F.C. in the UEFA Conference League, further showcasing their talent on the international stage.
