Nurudeen Amadu Departs FC Samartex as Head Coach

Story Highlights
  • FC Samartex sacks head coach Nurudeen Amadu
  • Amadu exits after 3 consecutive league losses
  • Henry Wellington takes temporary charge

Nurudeen Amadu has parted ways with FC Samartex, the defending champions of the Ghana Premier League, as head coach.

The seasoned Ghanaian coach, who took charge of the team in July 2023, left by mutual consent after overseeing 13 matches in the ongoing 2024/25 season.

Amadu led the team to the 2023/24 Premier League title, but this season has seen a series of challenges. FC Samartex has struggled in the current campaign, suffering three consecutive league losses and being eliminated from the MTN FA Cup following a 2-0 defeat to rivals Bibiani GoldStars SC.

The team also faced early disappointment in their debut CAF Champions League campaign, where they were knocked out in the preliminary round by Raja Casablanca.

In the interim, assistant coach Henry Wellington will take over the coaching duties until a permanent replacement for Amadu is appointed.

Currently, FC Samartex is in 10th place on the league table with 17 points. They are set to face Bechem United at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in the Matchday 14 fixtures this weekend.
