Aziz Haruna Futa, the National Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed that the Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has recommended the dismissal of Ghana Black Stars coach Otto Addo to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Addo, who has come under heavy criticism for Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), faces growing scrutiny. The Black Stars finished last in Group F during the qualifiers, accumulating just three points from three draws and three losses over six matches.

Following a recent review of Otto Addo’s technical report, the GFA has yet to make a final decision on his future. However, speaking on Happy FM, Haruna Futa, a former management member of Hearts of Oak, disclosed that Minister Mustapha Ussif has advised the GFA to part ways with Addo due to the team’s disappointing performance.

“It is government that pays Otto Addo, and that is taxpayers’ money, but on that, government cannot sack Otto Addo,” Futa explained. “The only thing government can do is to advise the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to sack Otto Addo, and the Minister (Mustapha Ussif) has done that.”

Otto Addo, who was appointed in March this year on a three-year contract with an option for a two-year extension, has yet to respond publicly to the calls for his dismissal.
