Comedian and actress Miranda Hart has revealed her decade-long battle with chronic fatigue due to Lyme disease in her new autobiography, “I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You.” Hart, best known for her BBC show “Miranda,” shared her experiences with ill health and her surprise marriage at 51.

Hart described the past few years as “tough” but expressed excitement about her marriage and return to television. “It’s so nice to be back on television; I feel very excited to be here,” she told The One Show. “When you’ve been bed and house-bound with a fatigue-based chronic illness, you miss life a lot.”

Lyme disease, a bacterial infection spread through tick bites, can cause flu-like symptoms, nerve pain, and facial palsy. Hart’s symptoms went undiagnosed for years, leading to chronic tiredness and neurological issues.

“It’s incredibly hard being confined to your home for so long,” Hart shared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. “Unless you’ve had fatigue like that, you don’t understand what literally not getting off the floor is.”

Hart’s book details her recovery journey and “10 keys” to living well. “I researched universal truths, and these treasures have genuinely helped me live a life of joy, meaning, and fulfillment.”

Upon receiving her diagnosis, Hart traced her condition back to her teenage years. “Probably when I was 14 or 15, I got a tick-borne illness… and that’s when my symptoms started.”

Off-screen, Hart’s love life has taken a happy turn. She met her husband during the pandemic and married at 51. “Getting married in mid-life is a full injection of joy and fun… He’s my best friend; we have the best fun.”

With her health improving and her new husband by her side, Hart is eager to return to work. “I’m really keen to get back to some silliness now; I miss the studio floor, I miss laughter.”

Fans have welcomed Hart’s news with delight. In a video posted on X, she thanked supporters, saying, “I’ve got my best friend to do life with, and it’s wonderful.”
