NDC Lacks Credibility in EC Protests – Richard Ahiagbah

Story Highlights
  • Ahiagbah argues that the NDC previously defended the EC vigorously during past elections
  • He claims the NDC's current protests undermine their credibility and consistency
  • Ahiagbah questions the NDC's departure from Mahama's principle

Richard Ahiagbah, Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has slammed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its inconsistent stance on the Electoral Commission (EC).

His comments follow the NDC’s recent protests regarding the voter register, which he argues starkly contradict the party’s previous support for the EC.

Ahiagbah pointed out that top NDC figures, including former President John Dramani Mahama, have historically defended the commission’s integrity during past elections.

He remarked, “Their current criticisms are at odds with their past support, undermining their credibility.” Ahiagbah further emphasized that the NDC’s actions contradict a principle established by Mahama, which advocates for the EC to operate without interference.

“If that principle was valid before, why isn’t it now?” he asked.
