John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to establish a cocoa processing facility in Kukuom, located in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.
During a campaign visit, he reaffirmed his dedication to addressing youth unemployment and promoting regional development.
This facility is a crucial component of Mahama’s broader industrialization strategy, which aligns with his proposed 24-hour economy policy.
This initiative aims to create a vibrant economic environment where businesses and industries operate continuously, enhancing productivity and accessibility while generating job opportunities for young people.
Mahama’s vision for a 24-hour economy seeks to leverage Ghana’s growing population, enabling sectors like manufacturing, processing, logistics, and services to function around the clock, thus creating more shifts and employment for the expanding workforce.
He highlighted that the cocoa processing facility will play a pivotal role in his industrialization agenda, which focuses on establishing industrial hubs in agriculturally rich regions.
Mahama expressed satisfaction with local leaders’ understanding of his policy, stating, “To effectively implement the 24-hour economy, we must initiate a significant industrialization push, starting with the construction of a cocoa processing facility for the Kukuom community, ending the need to export cocoa for processing.”
