US Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrested in New York

Story Highlights
  • Combs was arrested in New York following a grand jury indictment
  • Combs’s lawyer calls the prosecution “unjust”
  • The arrest follows previous legal issues, including allegations of sexual misconduct

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned American rapper and music producer, was arrested in New York following an indictment by a grand jury.

The specific charges against Combs, who was taken into custody on Monday, remain undisclosed.

Damian Williams, attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated that the indictment will be unsealed in the morning, promising further details then.

Combs’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed frustration over what he deems an “unjust prosecution” against the music icon.

Agnifilo described Combs as a self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and philanthropist who has dedicated decades to building his empire and supporting the Black community. “He is an imperfect person but not a criminal,” Agnifilo asserted.

Agnifilo emphasized Combs’s cooperation with the investigation, noting that he had voluntarily moved to New York last week in anticipation of the charges.

“Mr. Combs has nothing to hide and is eager to clear his name in court. Please hold off on judgment until all facts are known,” Agnifilo urged.

Earlier this year, federal authorities conducted raids on Combs’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami. Additionally, Combs faces accusations of sexual assault and misconduct from several women, including a lawsuit filed by former girlfriend Casandra Ventura in November, which was settled the following day with undisclosed terms.

Combs has consistently denied the allegations, accusing his accusers of seeking financial gain. The controversy resurfaced in May when CNN aired a leaked video showing Combs in a violent altercation with Ventura from 2016. Combs publicly apologized, calling his behavior “inexcusable.”

With a career spanning over three decades, Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and Love, is a pivotal figure in rap history.

He founded Bad Boy Records in the early 1990s and has collaborated with top artists like The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher. Beyond music, Combs has expanded into fashion, fragrance, and alcoholic beverages.
