The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially canceled the Amenfi Central parliamentary primary held on May 13, 2023.

The decision comes after legal challenges led by plaintiffs demanding a rerun of the election.

In a statement released on September 5, 2024, General Secretary Fifi Kwetey confirmed that the Sekondi High Court had scrutinized the election’s legitimacy.

Following a meeting on September 3, 2024, the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee resolved to annul the previous election and schedule a new primary.

New nominations for the Amenfi Central Constituency will open on Friday, September 6, 2024, with vetting and filing scheduled for the next day.

The re-elected primary is set to take place on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
