New Commander Takes Helm at Takoradi Air Force Base

Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukure Atiemo has officially taken over as the new commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, succeeding Air Commodore Godfried Sackey Parker, who passed away nine months ago.
To commemorate his appointment, a Special Quarter Guard was held, followed by a briefing with officers in the officers’ briefing room and a durbar attended by all ranks and Defence Civilian Staff at the Ashley-Lassen hangar.
Flying Group Commander, Group Captain S.Y. Agbenyefia, marked the occasion as significant for the base personnel, acknowledging their resilience and unwavering faith during the transitional period.
She expressed gratitude for their collective support, which she credited with maintaining the base’s stability.
She also praised the officers, airmen, and Defence Civilian Staff for their dedication throughout her tenure and encouraged them to extend the same commitment to the new Base Commander, whom she described as a visionary and inspiring leader.
In his address at the durbar, Air Commodore Atiemo thanked everyone for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his alignment with the vision of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe.
He called on all personnel to unite in achieving this vision, while also commending Group Captain Agbenyefia for her efforts in strengthening the base.
Air Commodore Atiemo urged continued discipline and dedication among the personnel, emphasizing the importance of balancing their military responsibilities with participation in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
The ceremony concluded with Air Commodore Atiemo receiving the Cane of Authority, symbolizing his new role as Base Commander.
The event was attended by various key figures, including the Commanding Officer of the Supply Wing, Wing Commander Samuel Kwame Baah Banson, the Acting Commanding Officer of the Administration Wing, Squadron Leader Abdul Aziz Sherif Mustapha, and other officers, airmen, and Defence Civilian Staff.
