The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the school selection process for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will take place from August 28 to September 4, 2024.
In a statement from Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director of Schools and Instruction Division, parents and guardians are encouraged to actively participate in the selection process to ensure a smooth placement this year.
The statement also mentions that candidates will have the option to confirm their school choices via a short code before final placements are made. Details regarding the short code will be provided soon.
This announcement follows the recent BECE, which saw 570,461 candidates taking the exams from July 8 to 15.
The selection process allows candidates to choose their preferred Senior High Schools or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for placement.
Regional Directors of Education have been instructed to inform all relevant stakeholders, including Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education and Examination Officers, to facilitate the smooth execution of the selection process.
GES headquarters staff will oversee the nationwide selection exercise to ensure adherence to guidelines and transparent candidate placement.
