John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emphasized the need for an experienced leader to manage Ghana’s economy. Addressing the Ada Traditional Council on Tuesday, August 27, as part of his campaign, Mahama stressed that Ghanaians are yearning for a leader with a proven track record.

He noted that the country does not have the luxury of time to experiment with inexperienced leaders. Mahama emphasized that the youth, who are the future and present of Ghana, cannot afford to have their lives used as a trial-and-error experiment.

He used a vivid analogy to drive home his point, saying that the country cannot afford to have a “driver” who will take Ghana on a journey of trial and error. Mahama warned that such an approach would lead to Ghana being “dumped in a ditch” and then having another inexperienced leader take over and cause even more harm.

He emphasized the need for a leader who has done it before, saying “we need experience, we need one who has done it before”. Mahama likened the country to a vehicle that needs a “licensed driver” to take it to its desired destination.

He assured the Ada Traditional Council that he has the experience and skills to manage the economy and take Ghana to where it needs to be. Mahama’s message was clear: Ghana needs a leader with experience, not a first-timer who will use the country as a testing ground for their leadership skills.
