Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has confidently stated that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration has successfully delivered on 80% of the promises outlined in their 2020 manifesto.
In a media engagement on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its promises, showcasing their dedication to the Ghanaian people. Dr. Bawumia took the opportunity to contrast the NPP’s achievement with the record of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, alleging that Mahama only managed to fulfill a mere 28% of his 2012 manifesto commitments.
The Vice President emphasized that the NPP government boasts a stronger track record, referencing Mahama’s reported failure to deliver on 203 out of 280 promises made in his 2012 manifesto. Dr. Bawumia proudly stated, “I think that we have a very pretty record in terms of honouring our promises.”
He continued, “We’ve done some work to look at our 2016 manifesto, and what proportion of those manifestos we’ve honoured, and 83 percent have been honoured.” Dr. Bawumia further highlighted the government’s achievements, saying, “And when you look at the 2020 manifesto, 2020, even in the midst of all these crises, we are fulfilling or we’ve fulfilled 80 percent of our 2020 promises in our manifesto.”
The Vice President then turned his attention to his opponent, John Dramani Mahama, saying, “My opponent in his 2012 manifesto when he became the president, he only fulfilled 28 percent of his 2012 manifesto.”
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the stark contrast between the two parties’ records, stating, “280 promises, he didn’t fulfil 203 of the 280 promises.” Dr. Bawumia asserted, “So, I think we have a better record as far as fulfilling promises.”
